INTRUSION: radio-cinema for the ears

Radio WORM + WORM Sound Studios present radioplays produced by participants in the workshop INTRUSION, with Felix Kubin.

At the conclusion of an intenstive week of workshopping scripts, working with voice actors and expeimenting with WORM’s collection of synths and other instruments, participants present their short radio works with brief Q+A.

About the workshop leaderFelix Kubin is a composer, creator of radio plays, performer, media artist and curator.

A lovechild of the home recording era (he started to compose electronic 4-track music at the age of 12), his activities span futurist pop, electroacoustic and chamber orchestra music, radio art, lecture performances and writing. In 1998 he founded his own record label Gagarin Records. Over the last two decades, he has released numerous albums of different conceptual formats and played at well over hundred international contemporary music festivals. Felix Kubin likes to move between high and low culture, clubs and concert halls, as his main concern is the shifting of contexts and expectations.

About WORM Sound Studio and Radio WORMWORM SOUND STUDIOS and the WAVEFORM RESEARCH CENTRE are internationally celebrated production spaces, part of a wider alternative network in the fields of radio art and underground music. The studio’s organisation has a wealth of DIY experience and facilities that are used by young programme makers, well-known musicians, sound artists and radio artists.

Both are part of a network of spaces in WORM, the Ultimate Playground: an ecosystem for new, deviant, vital culture: test environments for alternative art production and non-academic knowledge development.

Radio WORM existed as a series of commissioned radio art releases before developing into an online community radio platform in 2021. With a roster of several hundred regular radiomakers, the station broadcasts 6 days a week, with sorties to live festival environments including Rewire (the Hague) and Ultima (Oslo) as well as producing its own live events such as the 25 Hour Radio Relay and Delta Listening.
