Top violinist Isabelle Faust – last season's Artist in Focus at the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ – leads a chamber music ensemble of musicians of international stature in a special production of Igor Stravinsky's L'histoire du soldat. Stravinsky's exhilarating music is reminiscent of the puppet shows he experienced in St. Petersburg. The combination of ironic Italian commedia dell'arte and the rugged fantasy world of Slavic fairy tales comes to life in Stravinsky's unadorned, direct music.
