Museum Beelden aan Zee - Permanente collection

The collection of museum Beelden aan Zee has its origins in the private collection of married couple Theo and Lida Scholten. They bought their first sculpture in 1966. After decades of collecting hundreds of sculptures with great pleasure, the Scholtens took the initiative to found a museum for modern sculpture. The building by architect Wim Quist was opened in 1994. The entire international sculpture collection was housed in Beelden aan Zee and is the starting point for the artistic programme. The basic theme of the collection is the human figure in contemporary sculpture by artists all over the world.
